Chardonnay  |   Bella Sera  |   Zinfandel
The Chardonnay grape is considered to be the most "regal" of white wine grapes. Chardonnay is the principal grape of the Burgundy region in France, and has been planted extensively from Chablis to California. Chardonnay became increasingly popular in the 1970s due to its ability to produce wines of attractive quality on practically any type of soil.

Winemakers appreciate Chardonnay not only for its magnificent flavor and character, but also because it responds happily to a far wider range of winemaking techniques than other white wines. Typically Chardonnay is made in three distinctive styles: one heavily oaked, one aged less in oak, and the third even lighter -- made with little or no oak aging.

There are many different styles of Chardonnay, from light, simple wines to the complex, rich Chardonnay that have made this wine so popular. Chardonnay may be fruity with apples or melons, and may also carry the characteristics of the vineyard and oak in which it matured. Chardonnay at its best, can be a rich, flavorful wine with a soft, dry finish.

Food Pairings: Seafood, poultry, creamy pasta dishes, ham, duck.
